In 1999 Eric Saunders began a motorcycle racing odyssey that has taken him to many victory
lanes as well as on many special journey’s including a speaking engagement at the Pentagon.
Eric’s Father, Irish, through a relationship with friend and business colleague, Tony Stewart, began TSRMX. A racing team built specifically around Eric’s motocross efforts.
Stewart, who is a two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion who owns and drives the Office Depot/Old Spice Chevy for Stewart/Haas Racing, is an owner of several motorsports ventures in addition to his ultra-successful driving career and after seeing a similar drive in the young Saunders, awarded the youngster the riding opportunity, provided he was diligent and performed throughout his educational process.
Saunders has taken the opportunity to levels that have been incredible. With over 500 wins to his credit,
Saunders has proved he has the talent to compete in the top levels of motocross racing at local,
regional and national events.
The 2009 season Saunders will move forward once again in his racing career riding again for Tony Stewart Racing Motocross, with his Father, Irish as team manager, Ronnie Hapner crew chief, and under the watchful eyes of his Mother, Sheila, sister – Nicole and brother – Garrett.
"Eric is an incredibly talented young racer. He is doing a great job racing at the amateur motocross level and I can't wait to see what he can do in a car. Eric understands the motorsports business and works very hard to make sure his sponsors get a return on their investment. Eric is a pleasure to work with and I for one, believe he has a future in racing, and plan on being involved in his career for years to come"
